Kristopher Smith has joined the Foundation for the Mid South as a Senior Fellow where he is focused on working with FMS leadership to improve and advance opportunities for Males of Color work across Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Prior to joining the FMS team, he worked for 9 years as the director of leadership development for the Funders’ Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities. During that time, he worked closely with the Restoring Prosperity in Older Industrial Cities working group to allocate resources, and oversee project execution. In his time at Funders’ Network he also managed the PLACES program, a year-long fellowship that provided philanthropic leadership training and skill building opportunities. Kris began his career as a social science instructor at Miami Dade College, where he taught courses in history, public administration and social environment. As a native of Jacksonville, Florida, Kris enjoys reading, trail walking and white-water rafting.
