:: ABOUT COO

Communities of Opportunity (COO) is working in two Delta counties - one in Arkansas and one in Mississippi - for comprehensive community change. St. Francis County, Arkansas, and Leflore County, Mississippi. COO will focus on four areas for change - economic development, education, community development, and leadership development within and across sectors.

The Foundation will help these communities transform themselves from within by combining all of the Foundation's programs and expertise in a single community. The overarching goal is to establish a long-term, sustainable, asset-based, resident-driven community change initiative in these two Delta counties. Residents are fully involved in determining the best ways to improve the quality of life in their communities.

Significant private contributions and investments, like those from the Walton Family Foundation, will assist these communities in bringing together ideas and developing implementation strategies in order to improve the community.
